A consumer campaign to boycott the biggest Republican Party funders

This website was established on April 12th 2001 by Ethical Consumer magazine, following the rejection by President Bush of the Kyoto Agreement on global warming. Since that date, he has gone on to offend many more people around the world by his illegal invasion of Iraq and other regressive steps such as opposing weapons proliferation treaties.

As Bush's time in office reaches its final years, we still feel that the BoycottBush website has a point to make. The Republican party is still at the forefront of climate denial and weak solutions which do not address the USA's role as the biggest producer of climate change emissions in the world. Major donors to Republican coffers are still, therefore, supporting a regime which endangers us all by its environmental inaction, as well as by its military aggression.

What we want
On this website we call on consumers who oppose any or all of Bush's activities to boycott the brands of the Republican Party's biggest corporate funders until they:

  • publicly call for support for major, genuine action on climate change
  • cease all political funding of the current administration and its would-be successors until they do so.
Our Consumer Guide helps you to identify the products of companies giving the most money to this most misguided of governments.

The Bush Administration is perhaps best understood as a mouthpiece of America's profit-seeking corporate sector. His position on climate change, maintained at the G8 in Edinburgh and elsewhere, continues to be the single biggest obstacle to an intelligent human response to this threat.

Many of the donor companies listed opposite will benefit directly from his stance.

Writing campaign
It is important that any consumers joining this campaign inform the companies concerned of their reasons for avoiding particular products. Email details for the Top 10 UK Brands can be found on our ethiscore website. On this site, we have provided a standard letter and postal and web address details for all the Top 20 companies.
